The electricity department has filed a complaint against Jati at the Roorkee Civil Lines Police Station regarding the case, as per a PTI report.

In its complaint, the department alleged that Jati disconnected live power lines without following shutdown protocols. Officials said that such an act posed a serious risk of a major accident. One of the officials whose power supply was snapped was the chief engineer of the power department.

On Tuesday, Jati arrived in Roorkee with his aides. They carried a ladder and cutting tools. The MLA scaled an electricity pole outside the Boat Club residence of superintending engineer Vivek Rajput and cut the power supply to the house.

'Reeling under unannounced power cuts'

Not stopping at that, the MLA then went to the official residences of chief engineer Anupam Singh and executive engineer Vinod Pandey and snapped the power connection to their houses as well.

The MLA reportedly claimed that his area had been reeling under unannounced power outages that stretched to five-eight hours every day, which caused hardships for the people and huge losses for businesses.

Jati also said that he had been highlighting the issue of power outages with the department for 10 days, but the department officials had turned a deaf ear to his repeated pleas.

The MLA said the officials felt distressed after just an hour without power, while the public brooks the electricity woes for hours daily.
