The year 2025 marked a significant shift in India's national security landscape, characterised by a proactive and assertive approach under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strategic doctrine.
This period, known as "Bharat Secured," saw India implementing five new normals on terrorism: firm response, no nuclear blackmail tolerance, no distinction between terrorists and sponsors, terrorism as a primary dialogue point, and zero compromise on sovereignty.
These principles were decisively operationalised during Operation Sindoor, launched on 7th May 2025 following the Pahalgam terror attack. Indian forces struck deep inside Pakistan’s Punjab province, neutralising nearly 100 terrorists and targeting 11 Pakistani airbases with precision.
The operation largely utilised indigenous technology, including BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Rafale fighter jets, and advanced drones, showcasing Indias enhanced military capabilities and resolve to neutralise threats proactively. This transformation was supported by a surge in defence production and budget, alongside key indigenous milestones in weaponry and naval assets.
