| Updated on: Nov 18, 2025 | 07:23 AM

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently concluded a three-day visit to Moscow, engaging in crucial discussions with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. The primary agenda was to finalise preparations for President Vladimir Putins forthcoming visit to India, anticipated around 5th December for the 23rd annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Talks between Jaishankar and Lavrov covered a wide array of bilateral and global issues, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) framework, and regional concerns such as the Middle East and Afghanistan.

A significant outcome expected from Putins visit is the signing of a landmark bilateral mobility agreement. This pact aims to establish a structured framework for legal migration, safeguard workers rights, and boost skilled Indian manpower in Russia, addressing the countrys demand for qualified professionals.

Both sides underscored the enduring stability that India-Russia ties bring to international relations. Separately, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held strategic discussions with Nikolay Patrushev, Putin’s aide, further cementing the comprehensive bilateral dialogue.
