New Delhi: The first passenger train in Indian Railways operated in 1853, and since then, the trains in our country have come a long way. The technology of the trains in our country has evolved since the time of the British Raj and especially since Independence in 1947. The introduction of railways will always remain a lasting legacy of the British Raj in India, even though they did so for their benefit.

Trains connect different parts of a vast country like India, enabling common people to travel easily and also at a lower price. Hence, the railways are the most popular mode of transport in the country. Earlier, the Rajdhani Express and the Shatabdi Express were considered the most advanced trains with all modern amenities. However, with the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express on February 15, 2019, the landscape of Indian Railways changed. The superfast express train, a product of 'Make in India' initiative, with its air-conditioned, reserved chair car service, has come as a boon to the common people by greatly reducing travel time. Moreover, the sleeper Vande Bharat Express is going to make its debut.
