Bangalore: In a shocking development, three Malayali students pursuing their master degree have been arrested for brutally assaulting a youth working at a private firm. The Ashok Nagar police have arrested three students from Kerala for allegedly assaulting a private firm employee over a parking row in front his house on October 22.
Even though the incident took place in October, the details came out after a CCTV footage of the assault went viral in social media groups.
Few onlookers in the area recorded the incident in their mobile phones and was posted in various social media groups in Ashok Nagar. The police later found the video and initiated a probe. After confirmation of the incident and the location, a case was registered.
The accused have been identified as Basil Verghese, Taras Raji, and Sandeep Mahadev, students pursuing BBA, MSc, and BTECH students.
According to the police, the incident occurred around midnight on October 22 when the trio planned a trip and booked a Zoomcar. When they arrived in the neighbourhood to pick up the vehicle, the victim Azar Ahmed noticed the unfamiliar faces and questioned them about their presence and why they were parking their car in the area.
Police say the questioning angered the trio, who allegedly attacked Ahmed without provocation. Despite Mr. Ahmed attempting to clarify, the youths grew more aggressive, pushed him to the ground, beat him up, and stamped him while he was lying unconscious.
