'Left without hijab': Man kills wife, two daughters; buries them under house in UP's Shamli

A man in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and two young daughters and burying their bodies inside his house. Police said the crime took place on December 10 and came to light days later, with the accused reportedly confessing during interrogation.

New Delhi: A man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly murdering his wife and two minor daughters and secretly burying their bodies inside their house, police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on December 10 in Ghari Daulat village under the Kandhla police station limits but surfaced only on Tuesday evening. The accused has been identified as Mohd Farukh.

According to the police, Farukh allegedly shot his wife while she was making tea at home. Their 12-year-old daughter was also shot when she tried to stop him, while the couple’s five-year-old daughter was allegedly strangled. Investigators said the accused later buried all three bodies in a pit inside the house and continued his daily routine for several days.

During questioning, Farukh reportedly confessed to the crime. Police said he was upset after his wife stepped out of the house without wearing a hijab.

Tension in village

After the incident came to light, relatives of the victims gathered at the spot and attempted to confront the accused, leading to a tense situation. Police intervened to control the crowd, and additional security personnel have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.
