Madurai LIC Office Fire: Blaze Erupts in Periyar Area
Madurai, Tamil Nadu – A fire broke out at the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) office in Madurai’s Periyar area, leading to frantic early morning rescue attempts by a vigilant citizen and bank employees. Maniyendan, who arrived to use an ATM, first noticed smoke emanating from the upper floors of the building.
Upon investigation, it was determined the fire was at the LIC office, located above a Kotak Mahindra bank on the third floor. Maniyendan, along with two staff members from the bank, acted swiftly.
They reportedly broke a locked glass door to gain entry. Their efforts led to the rescue of a staff member named Kannan, who had sustained burn injuries. Kannan was promptly sent to the Government Hospital via a 108 ambulance, with Maniyendan assisting in calling emergency services.
During his rescue, Kannan informed his rescuers that a lady manager, identified as Kalyani, was still trapped inside. However, intense black smoke had rapidly spread, making further entry impossible for the initial rescuers. The fire department and police subsequently arrived and took over the complex rescue operations amidst the raging blaze.
