New Delhi: A body of a newly married woman was found inside her house in Gudh town in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. Police have accused her husband of murdering her following frequent disputes over dowry demands and his addiction to the online game PUBG.
According to the police, Neha and Ranjit were married on May 5 this year in a traditional Hindu ceremony. Barely six months into the marriage, their relationship had deteriorated. Officials said Ranjit spent most of his time playing PUBG and refused to work.
When Neha objected to his gaming habit and urged him to find employment, he would often lose his temper. He was also allegedly demanding dowry from her family, which led to repeated arguments.giv
On the night of the incident, Neha reportedly asked Ranjit to stop playing PUBG and focus on earning a livelihood. Enraged, he strangled her with a scarf. Other family members were in a different room at the time and were unaware of the assault. After the murder, Ranjit allegedly locked the house from outside and fled. He later sent a message to his brother-in-law admitting to the killing.
Police have launched a detailed investigation, recording statements from Neha’s family and examining all angles, including dowry harassment and domestic violence. A search for the accused is currently underway. “We are probing every aspect of the case and efforts are on to arrest the husband,” said SDOP Udit Mishra.
