Mumbai BEST Bus Tragedy: Four Dead, Nine Injured at Bhandup Station

A tragic BEST bus accident near Bhandup suburban railway station on Monday night left four people dead and nine seriously injured. The 52-year-old driver, Santosh Ramesh Sawant, has been taken into police custody.

Mumbai witnessed a tragic accident on Monday night when a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus ran over passengers while reversing outside the Bhandup suburban railway station. The incident, which occurred around 10:00 PM, resulted in the death of four people and left nine others seriously injured.

Emergency services, including police, fire brigade, and ambulances, were immediately activated and rushed to the scene. Senior Police Inspector Balasaheb Pawar confirmed that the injured were swiftly transported to hospital.

The 52-year-old bus driver, identified as Santosh Ramesh Sawant, has been taken into police custody following the incident. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate tragedy.
