New Delhi: In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a Mumbai man is accused of slitting his 14-year-old daughter's throat and brutally attacking his wife. He reportedly committed the crime under the influence of alcohol, unemployment, and an obsessive suspicion of his wife's fidelity.
The accused, identified as Hanumant Sonawale, reportedly barged into his sleeping daughter's room and, in a shocking act of violence, slit her neck. The teenager's cries of agony alerted her mother, Rajshree, who rushed to her child's aid, only to be allegedly attacked herself, stabbed in the stomach by her enraged husband.
Both the 14-year-old daughter, who sustained five stitches to her neck, and her mother are currently admitted to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali, undergoing treatment for their injuries, according to the NDTV report.
According to initial police investigations, Sonawale's life was marred by unemployment and a severe alcohol addiction. He allegedly had a history of domestic violence, frequently assaulting his wife and constantly questioning her character, suspecting her of having an extramarital affair. Moments before the horrific attack, Sonawale, reportedly in an inebriated state, had a heated verbal altercation with Rajshree.
Further details emerging from the investigation suggest that Sonawale was also distressed by his wife's recent decision to seek legal counsel and pursue a divorce.
Following the incident, Hanumant Sonawale was apprehended by the police. A case has been registered against him, including charges of attempted murder and domestic violence. An intensive investigation is currently underway to fully unravel the circumstances that led to this appalling act of family violence.
