The horrifying attack on an 11-year-old boy in Mumbai by a Pit Bull has sparked outrage and widespread condemnation. A viral video depicts the disturbing incident, highlighting the callous behaviour of both the dogs owner and the bystanders present.
The incident occurred on July 17th inside an auto-rickshaw. Hamza, the victim, was playing with friends when the owner of the Pit Bull, identified as Sohail Khan, entered the vehicle. While the other children managed to escape, Hamza was trapped, becoming the target of the aggressive dog.
The video shows Khan's disturbing inaction as the Pit Bull repeatedly bites Hamza, and instead of intervening, he laughs along with the onlookers who film the event rather than offering assistance.
Hamzas cries for help are audible throughout the video, as the dog continues its attack. Desperately attempting to escape, Hamza jumps from the auto-rickshaw, only to be pursued and bitten again by the Pit Bull. The victim reported that no one helped him as the dog attacked, even grabbing at his clothing.
Following the assault, Hamzas father confronted Khan and filed a police complaint. Authorities subsequently charged Khan under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). However, upon arriving at Khan's residence, police discovered that he had absconded. Multiple police teams are reportedly working to apprehend him.
