A major controversy has erupted in Bengaluru following the circulation of viral videos reportedly showing inmates, including high-profile rape convict Umesh Reddy, using mobile phones and watching television within the confines of the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.

These visuals have not only ignited public outrage but have also prompted a comprehensive official investigation into potential security breaches and alleged irregularities within the correctional facility.

Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara swiftly acknowledged the gravity of the situation, publicly stating his serious concern over the incident. He has since initiated formal proceedings by requesting a detailed report from the Additional Director General of Police (Prisons), B. Dayananda.

Minister Parameshwara has issued a stern warning, indicating that strict punitive measures will be implemented against any prison officials found to be complicit or negligent, should the ongoing inquiry confirm security lapses.
