PM Modi Arrives In South Africa For 20th G20 Summit, Focus On Global South & Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced his visit to Johannesburg, South Africa, for the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit. This significant event marks the first G20 summit to be hosted on African soil, with South Africa currently holding the presidency of the influential bloc.

During the three-day summit, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to participate in all sessions, articulating Indias perspectives, particularly on issues pertinent to the Global South. A key focus for India will be advancing discussions on sustainable development goals, climate action, energy transition, and comprehensive global governance reform.

Beyond the plenary sessions, PM Modi is also slated to engage in bilateral meetings with various world leaders and will attend the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) leaders’ meeting. The Ministry of External Affairs underscores the G20’s role as a premier forum for international cooperation, addressing critical global challenges. India aims to ensure the continuity of its priorities following its successful G20 presidency in 2023.
