New Delhi: The police have busted a sex racket that was allegedly run from an IAS officer's house in Prayagraj’s Kydganj area.
The police took action after receiving repeated complaints from local residents about suspicious activities. They raided the place and arrested nine people, including five men, the alleged ringleader, and four women.
The neighbours alerted authorities after they became suspicious of seeing frequent movement of men and women day and night at the house. The police team reached the spot and forcibly entered the house when the door was not opened despite knocking. They found men and women in objectionable conditions in different rooms and apprehended them. Deputy commissioner of police (city) Manish Shandilya said, "The raid was carried out following complaints from residents. All the accused have been arrested, and legal action is underway."
According to reports, around three months ago, a woman IAS officer rented out the house to Sarvesh Dwivedi for around Rs 15,000 per month. Dwivedi said he would reside there with his family and kept them there for a few days to avoid suspicion. Then, he sent them back to his old residence before the suspicious activities started at the house.
Neighbours got alarmed at young men and women entering and exiting the house at odd hours, and informed the authorities. They kept the house under watch, and the police raided the house on Sunday afternoon, finding four women and four men in a compromising position inside.
Apart from the ringleader, Sarvesh Dwivedi, the police also arrested his associate, Mayank Kushwaha, and three male customers and four women. They also found 'incriminating material' from the spot. The police are questioning the accused to find if there are other members in the network and whether they are operating in other locations.
