New Delhi: The fight to own the Sona Group of Rs 30,000 crore has heated up in the United Kingdom. The battle has intensified after Rani Kapur, the mother of late chairman Sunjay Kapur, hinted at a "transnational conspiracy" which resulted in the murder of her son.

According to NDTV, Rani Kapur has written a letter claiming to possess "credible and concerning evidence that suggests his son's death may not have been accidental or natural, but may have involved foul play, including the possibility of murder, abetment, conspiracy, fraud, and forgery".

Also, she reportedly claimed in the letter that she has records pointing "to forgery, dubious asset transfers and suspicious legal filings, (and) indications of collusion between individuals who stood to gain financially."

'It was an international conspiracy'

She referred to Priya Sachdev Kapur as the one to gain financially from Sunjay Kapur's death. She told the British authorities in the alleged letter and said, "There are compelling reasons to believe his death may have been facilitated or orchestrated as part of a coordinated transnational conspiracy, with the involvement of individuals and entities in the United Kingdom, India and maybe the United States."

Rani Kapur further wrote, "Given the gravity of the matter and possible multiple offences under UK law, including murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, fraud by false representation, forgery. I respectfully request the immediate registration of a formal complaint and initiation of a criminal investigation".

The family affair of the Kapurs is getting murkier. It started with Rani's e-mail to the board of Sona Comstar demanding that it postpone an annual general meeting. She called herself the majority shareholder of the Sona Group and said she was "compelled to sign documents" while grieving for her son. She questioned Priya Sachdev Kapur's appointment and claimed to have information that highlighted "gross illegalities" in company affairs.
