New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a doctor from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has come under investigation after he attempted to treat a child’s bleeding wound by sealing it with Fevikwik. The incident occurred when Sardar Jaspinder Singh, a resident of the upscale Jagriti Vihar locality, said his son was playing at home and accidentally hit his head on the corner of a table, causing a deep cut.
Given the seriousness of the injury, the family rushed the child to Bhagyashree Hospital. There, the on-duty doctor allegedly instructed them to buy a Rs 5 Fevikwik tube and used it to seal the wound. In their complaint, the family stated that the child screamed in pain during the procedure, but the doctor reportedly dismissed their concerns, saying the boy was only nervous and the pain would subside.
By night, the child’s condition worsened, prompting the family to take him to Lokpriya Hospital the next morning. Doctors there reportedly spent three hours removing the hardened adhesive from the injury. Once cleared, they applied four stitches to properly close the wound. The family noted that the situation could have been far more dangerous, alleging that if the Fevikwik had entered the toddler’s eye, it could have led to a serious medical emergency.
Meerut Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ashok Kataria, confirmed that the matter has been brought to his notice. “The child’s family has filed a complaint. An investigation committee has been formed, and action will be taken based on the findings,” he said.
Authorities will also examine whether standard medical protocols were violated and whether disciplinary or legal action should be taken against the doctor involved. The child’s family has additionally raised the matter with the Chief Minister’s Office.
