New Delhi: Two people were killed and another seriously injured, after a speeding car, hit a metro pillar in Pune. The three were travelling in a black-coloured vehicle which hit the metro pillar. The accident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday.
Cousins killed
The police said that the deceased were identified as Yash Bhandari and Hritik Bhandari. Both of them were 23-years old and were cousins. The impact of the collision was so severe that one of the bodies was reportedly found hanging out of the window of the vehicle, said police.
The police said that the car was being driven at a very high speed and it hit a pillar at the Bund Garden Metro Station as the driver lost control. While Yash and Hritik died on the spot, the third passenger, identified as Kushwant Tekwani, was critically injured. He is fighting for his life in Sassoon Hospital said a report in NDTV.
The locals moved the victims to the hospital.
Initial reports said that the men might have been drunk and therefore the driver lost control of the car. The police also recovered liquor bottles from the car.
An official said that though further investigations are on in the matter, prima facie it appears that the accident happened because the driver of the vehicle was not in his senses while driving. Police are hoping to question Tekwani once he recovers.
