Government wants to cut eco-sensitive zone in Bengaluru: SC panel to visit area after public outcry

New Delhi: In a case quite similar to the Aravali-hills row, a Supreme Court appointed panel is set to review the government 's order cutting down the eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) around the Bannerghatta National Park. The inspection is scheduled for Friday. The government had in 2018 declared reducing the ESZ around Bengaluru 's green backyard. The park is being eyed by real estate agents and also mining barons, who want to use the contiguous landscape of the environmentally sensitive zone for their own benefits. Indian student in Germany jumps off burning building, dies

New Delhi: In a shocking incident reported from Germany, an Indian man hailing from Telangana died after jumping off a burning building in Berlin. Government proposes 90-day work a year for gig workers to avail social security benefits

New Delhi: Gig workers need to be engaged for at least 90 days in a year with a particular aggregator to avail benefits under the new Social Security Code formulated by the government. The government has just released the draft rules for public comments and scrutiny and this proposal has been put in it. If a worker is engaged with a number of aggregators, the threshold has been capped at 120 days. Know the rules proposed by government for gig workers According to the draft rules, any worker will be considered as engaged from the day he starts earning an income, regardless of the money they earn. If some worker is engaged with multiple platforms, then the number of days of their employment with each of them would be added together to calculate their employed days. So if a gig worker is engaged by 3 platforms on a particular day, this will be considered 3 working days for the individual. Lokpal cancels Rs 5 crore tender to procure luxury BMW cars after public backlash

New Delhi: Anti-corruption body, Lokpal has cancelled a tender to buy 7 BMW cars worth Rs 5 crore. Delhi: More than 800 drink driving challans issued on New Year's Eve in city

New Delhi: Delhi Police issued 868 challans for drink-driving on New Year 's Eve, said a police officer. Several special enforcement teams were deployed to public places, including arterial roads, nightclubs and residential hubs to curb hooliganism and motorcycle stunts by drunk drivers.
