She further urged the government to allow her party, the Awami League to participate in the February elections. She said that the present dispensation had designed the elections in such a way that her party is excluded from participation.

She further accused Yunus of building huge wealth abroad by money laundering. She accused him of illegally grabbing power and questioned his authority. He accused him of trying to "legitimise his power by stealing the mandate of people."

Past attacks of Hasina on Yunus

This is however not the first time that Hasina has attacked the current dispensation of Bangladesh. Ever since losing power in August 2024, she has continuously highlighted the mismanagement and poor governance of the country.

Following attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, earlier this month, she sharpened her attacks on the Yunus government. She blamed the government for taking the country towards darkness and said that "extremists were emboldened" under the current regime. She said that minorities are being put under danger, despite decades of Muslims and minorities having lived together, peacefully.

She said that fear has gripped residents of Bangladesh and it has also lost the respect of other countries of the world.
