Woman fat-shames Rapido driver; records him without consent

New Delhi: A woman body-shamed a Rapido driver while he was waiting for her. She then cancelled the ride and shared a video of the incident on her Instagram page. Netizens were miffed and lashed out at the woman for her insensitive comments. They reminded her that such hurtful remarks were not funny. 

The now-deleted video was shared by Karsimran Kaur Mattu. In the clip, Mattu was heard giggling and passing derogatory comments while filming the Rapido driver from afar without his consent. She further stated that she would have to cancel the ride due to his body weight.

 "I booked a bike ride, and look at the driver who has arrived. I am making this video hiding here so that he doesn’t get offended. But, main kahan baithungi? (Where am I supposed to sit?) Majburan cancel karni padd gyi (I had to cancel the ride),” said the woman in the video. It garnered more than two million views. Social media users were quick to comment on the clip. They called out the woman for body-shaming the Rapido driver and filming him without his permission. 

One wrote, "It’s truly disheartening to see someone make an effort to humiliate a person just doing his job. She could have cancelled the ride quietly. Instead, she made it content.” Others asked her why she did not book a cab instead of a bike if she was concerned about comfort. 

Another person commented, "If you need that much comfort, why not book a car? Why choose a bike if you’re going to mock the person riding it?”A third individual stated, " It’s truly disheartening to see someone make an effort to humiliate a person just doing his job. She could have cancelled the ride quietly. Instead, she made it content.”
