New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) launched a new Indian men’s team jersey for the 2026 T20 World Cup in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. The jersey was revealed on the sidelines of the second ODI match against South Africa.
Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma were called during the mid-innings of the second ODI to launch the new jersey in the presence of BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. Rohit, who led India to a T20 World Cup victory in 2024, has been named the Brand Ambassador of the 2026 editio
The jersey carries a deep blue colour with orange panels along the sides. The tricolour has been moved to the collar, while vertical blue stripes run across the front side to add texture.
Speaking at the jersey launch, Rohit said that they won their first World Cup in 2007, and had to wait more than 15 years to win the next one, so it’s been a long journey. He further added that it’s been a long road with many ups and downs, but it felt great to lift the trophy again.
"Now, with the World Cup happening in India, it’s going to be an exciting tournament. My best wishes are always with the team, and I’m sure everyone will be behind them, supporting them and doing their best," Rohit added.
T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was not present for the ceremony, as he is playing for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) with games scheduled on either side of the event. India's vice-captain Shubman Gill is also recovering from a neck injury, continuing his rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
The 2026 T20 World Cup will start from February 7 to March 8, featuring 20 teams. Defending champions India will play their first game at the Wankhede Stadium on February 7 against the USA. The Men in Blue have been placed in Group A, with the top two teams advancing to the Super Eight stage. The tournament will then move into the knockout stages before the final on March 8, which will be held either in Ahmedabad or Colombo, depending on Pakistan’s qualification.
