New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is hopeful that the 2025 Asia Cup Trophy will reach its headquarters in Mumbai within a day or two, but if the controversy continues, the board will take the matter to the ICC on November 4.

India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets in the summit clash of the tournament in Dubai, but refused to take the trophy from Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as ACC and PCB chairman.

This was after India captain Suryakumar Yadav declined to shake hands with the Pakistan skipper Salman Agha due to the conflict between the two countries. Naqvi has already said that the trophy can be handed over to the winners, but it will be presented by him. More than a month after the famous win, the Indian Board still awaits the official handover of the silverware.

'We hope the trophy will reach at BCCI office in two days': BCCI joint secretary Devajit Saikia

The BCCI joint secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI that they are a little bit unhappy with the way the trophy has not been given to them even after a month of the tournament final.

"We are pursuing this matter, about 10 days ago also we wrote a letter to the chairman of ACC, but there is no change in their stand. They are still keeping the trophy under their custody but we hope that the trophy will reach us in a day or two at the BCCI office in Mumbai," Saikia told PTI.

He further said that if the trophy is not handed over to them soon, the BCCI will raise the matter in the upcoming ICC meeting in Dubai on November 4. Saikia said that they are fully prepared to deal with the matter, and the trophy will come back to India, but the timeline is not fixed.

After the Asia Cup final, the presentation was delayed for more than an hour before the trophy was taken off the field by the ACC chairman, leaving the Men in Blue celebrating their win without the silverware.
