New Delhi: Glenn Maxwell is set to return from a fractured wrist injury to play in the T20I series against India, which is set to begin on October 19 in Canberra. New South Wales all-rounder Jack Edwards got his maiden international call-up to the Australian squad for the third ODI match in Sydney.

Young pacer Mahli Beardman has also been called up for the T20I series as Australia made big changes ahead of the Ashes series. Cricket Australia (CA) also confirmed these changes to the two white-ball squads on Friday. Marnus Labuschagne has been released from the ODI squad ahead of the last game in Sydney on Saturday to prepare for Queensland's Sheffield Shield clash against NSW.

Both Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott will miss the last part of the T20I series against India, and will play the round four Shield match for NSW against Victoria, which begins at the SCG on November 10. Hazlewood will only feature in the first two T20I matches while Abbott, who is recovering from a split webbing in his hand, will be released from the squad after the third T20I game in Hobart.

Matthew Kuhnemann, who played in the first ODI against India in Perth, has been added to the squad for the third match in Sydney along with Edwards. Josh Philippe, who also played the series opener and then was dropped from the second game after Alex Carey's inclusion, has been added to the T20I squad as the backup wicketkeeper, with doubt remaining over Josh Inglis' fitness.

Maxwell will return for the last three T20I matches of the series. He has been ruled out of the first two matches after fracturing his wrist while bowling in the nets in New Zealand last month. Dwarshuis was ruled out of the ODI series and the first three T20I matches due to a calf injury, but has been named for the fourth and fifth matches of the series.
