New Delhi: Yograj Singh is never shy of making the headlines. Most of the time, for all the wrong reasons and sometimes for the right ones. Yograj, the father of legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, is known for making controversial statements is at it again with a bizarre comparison of Arjun Tendulkar with his father, Sachin.
The statement has divided opinions.
Yograj, who has trained Arjun previously, astonishingly compared Arjun with his father and said that he is a quality batter and bats like Sachin.
"Arjun Tendulkar should focus on batting, he's a quality batter, he bats like Sachin," Yograj said on Ravish Bisht's YouTube channel.
As soon as Yograj's claim went viral, fans on social media slammed him for his bizarre comparison.
Arjun, currently playing for Goa in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, remains firmly in the spotlight due to his surname and his father's unparalleled legacy. Even though Arjun has carved a niche as a left-arm pacer and a lower-order batter, a role distinct from Sachin's batting mastery, the rich legacy has created a massive burden of comparisons and inflated expectations.
Recently, he opened the batting for Goa against his former team, Mumbai and scored 24 off 27 balls.
After the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Arjun would turn his focus to the much-awaited Indian Premier League (2026). The tall all-rounder will don the jersey of Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming IPL season.
Arjun was part of the Mumbai Indians-Lucknow Super Giants trade deal, which also involved Shardul Thakur.
The young cricketer would aim to make the most of his batting chances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and hope he succeeds in impressing the Super Giants team management and finds a spot in the playing XI.
