New Delhi: Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had to be admitted to a hospital on Tuesday after he complained of severe stomach pain. The incident happened during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match between Mumbai and Rajasthan in Pune when the left-handed batter complained of pain.

It has been learnt that the cramps and pain intensified after the match and became unbearable which was the reason why he had to be rushed to the nearby Aditya Birla hospital. Upon investigation using an ultrasound and CT scan, Jasiwal was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis which was the reason for the  cramps he was suffering.

As per a report in the Indian Express, Jaiswal was given an IV medication along with some other oral medicines and advised strict bed rest by the doctors. Rigorously following the medical procedures and taking adequate bed rest is the only way for a patient suffering with gastroenteritis.

Doctors have not given any specific time period as to till when will the Indian cricketer have to be on medicines and in the hospital but it is understood that it would take the southpaw few days to recover and become match fit. On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to provide an official update on the Indian cricketers health.

The incident happened on a day when the IPL mini auction was underway in Abu Dhabi and the entire national and international focus was on the glitzy event which is the reason why the news was not widely spread. Keeping in mind India's next big assignment in mid-January, Jaiswal has got ample time to rest and get fit. India are meanwhile engaged in a T20I series against South Africa and the young batter is not part of that.
