New Delhi: India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja didn't just help India draw against England in the fourth Test but also etched his name into cricketing history. He equalled an iconic record which was held by legendary Sir Garfield Sobers.

On the final day of the Manchester Test, Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 107, notching up his fifth 50-plus score in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. With this milestone, Jadeja has now drawn level with the legendary Garry Sobers for the most 50+ scores at No.6 or lower in a single Test series in England, a record Sobers set way back in 1966.

Remarkably, both Jadeja and Sobers accomplished this feat in just eight innings, a testament to their incredible consistency and the critical role a lower-middle-order batter can play. Jadeja’s exploits with the bat have not only been crucial for India throughout the series but have now also cemented his name alongside some of the all-time greats, including Sobers himself, across various elite record charts.

That’s not all the 36-year-old Indian all-rounder has now become the joint-most successful visiting batter in English conditions with nine 50+ scores at No.6 or below. Jadeja is also just the second overseas player after Sobers to surpass the 1000-run mark in England while batting in the lower-middle order, underscoring his remarkable ability to perform consistently on tough away tours.

Jadeja dominance as all-rounder

Ravindra Jadeja has earned a name for himself as he is one of the most successful all rounders in the world. Indian legend Kapil Dev also picked him above Ben Stokes as best all-rounder. He has taken 34 wickets in England which makes the only third player to score 1000+ runs and 30+ wickets in a country after West Indies legend Sobers' and England great Wilfred Rhodes (in Australia).

In the fourth Test, Jadeja helped India claw back from 0/2 to finishing at 425/4 securing a draw as they were chasing England's massive 669-run first innings.

Jadeja also equalled VVS Laxman's record from the 2002 West Indies series as he registered five 50+ scores in the current series. His score in the series include 89, 69*, 72, 61*, 20 and 107* highlighting his consistency and ability to carry score in pressure situations.

He has scored 12 fifty plus scores in SENA countries batting in lower order just behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni and he has achieved the feat in 47 innings. Jadeja is leading from all fronts and remains central to India's hopes as England are leading by 2-1 in the series.
