New Delhi: Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Axar Patel were unavailable for the third T20I against South Africa at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, December 14. The Men in Blue were forced to make two changes to their playing XI as they looked to take a lead in the series.
T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed at the toss that Bumrah is missing the game due to personal reasons, while Axar Patel was not available after falling ill. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed that fast bowler Bumrah had returned to Mumbai to attend to a personal matter.
It remains unclear whether he will be available for the remainder of the series. The fourth and fifth T20I matches will be played on December 17 and 19 in Lucknow and Ahmedabad, respectively.
"Jasprit Bumrah has gone back home for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the game. An update on him joining the squad for the remaining matches will be provided in due course," BCCI said in a statement.
The Men in Blue won the first T20I of the series in Cuttack but were beaten by 51 runs in the second match in Mullanpur, leaving the series finely poised heading into the Dharamsala clash.
