New Delhi: Team India is likely to play the Asia Cup 2025 without any jersey sponsor, which is set to begin on September 9. The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to rope in a sponsor till the 2027 ODI World Cup, which is expected to take a long time, reports India Today.
After the passing of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, the fantasy sports app Dream 11 has ended its partnership with the BCCI as the jersey sponsor. The BCCI held an emergency Apex Council meeting on Thursday, which was chaired by the board's interim president, Rajeev Shukla.
The board member discussed about finding a new sponsor before the Asia Cup and is still hopeful. But there is not much time to complete the process, but it is going to be difficult for them to find a sponsor before the start of the Asia Cup 2025.
Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the contract with Dream 11 has been terminated, and the board is in the process of getting a new jersey sponsor for the Indian teams.
