India vs Australia Highlights, 3rd ODI: India signed off the ODI series on a high, cruising to a nine-wicket win in Sydney to avoid a whitewash. The victory was set up perfectly by the bowlers, who showed discipline and control after a strong start from the Australian openers. Shubman Gill once again lost the toss but didn’t mind fielding first and the call worked out just right. The pacers found early rhythm, the spinners tied things down in the middle order and Harshit Rana’s sharp spell ensured India had a chaseable target on the board.
While chasing India were in complete control. The openers started positively, racing to 68 without loss in the first 10 overs. Gill fell to Hazlewood but that only brought the two stalwarts together - Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The pre-series chatter was all about them and they delivered in style. Kohli reached his 75th ODI fifty and went past Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-getter in ODI history while Rohit, calm and composed, brought up his 33rd century as the duo stitched an unbeaten 168-run stand.
Australia got off to a flying start after opting to bat first in the third ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Marsh and Head forged a 61-run partnership for the opening wicket. Head was removed by Siraj for 30 runs, while Axar dismissed Marsh for 41 runs.
Kuldeep took some time to assess the conditions, but Axar and Sundar bowled brilliantly. The Indian spinner kept attacking the stumps and dried the boundaries to put pressure on the Australian batters.
Renshaw scored 56 runs off 58 balls, but Harshit Rana came back to dismiss the middle and lower order. He picked up his four-wicket haul, while Sundar also took two wickets.
The crowd at the SCG was firmly behind the visitors as Ro-Ko produced a batting exhibition. India sealed the chase with 11.3 overs to spare, wrapping up the series on a dominant note and reminding everyone that experience still wins matches.
