New Delhi: IPL franchises are all set to confirm their retained players list ahead of the mini-auction. There has been plenty of chatter on social media around the players, and some interesting trades have already taken place ahead of the retention deadline.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have traded Shardul Thakur to the Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 2 crore. He joined LSG as an injury replacement and picked up 13 wickets in 10 matches. West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford has also been traded to MI from the Gujarat Titans (GT) for Rs 2.6 crore.
According to an ESPNcricinfo report, wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is likely to be traded to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from Rajasthan Royals (RR) in exchange for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
Arjun Tendulkar has been traded to LSG from MI for Rs 30 lakh, while Mohammed Shami has been traded to Lucknow-based franchise for Rs 10 crore from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
All 10 IPL teams have to confirm their retentions ahead of the 2026 auction by Saturday, November 15. The official list will be released after 5 PM (IST).
The franchises are allowed to retain as many players as they want ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, but the squad size cannot exceed the limit of 25 players. The total purse size for each franchise is likely to be around Rs 120 crore.
The date for IPL 2026 mini auction has not been announced officially. However, according to an ESPNcricinfo report, the auction is likely to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. The 2024 auction was held in Dubai, while the 2025 mega auction took place in Saudi Arabia.
The live telecast of IPL 2026 retention will be available on Star Sports Network, and live streaming will be available on the JioHotstar app and website.
