New Delhi: Neymar has extended his contract with Santos until the end of 2026. His contract extension was announced by the Brazilian club on Wednesday, January 7. The forward maintains hopes of a World Cup call-up despite recent setbacks due to injury.
The 33-year-old returned to his boyhood club Santos in January 2025 and played a crucial role in their survival in the Brazilian top flight, scoring five goals in their last five games of the season.
"Santos is my place, I'm at home. It's with you that I want to achieve the dreams that are still missing," Neymar said in a video published on the Brazilian club's social media.
Neymar has struggled with long-term injuries and underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his knee last month. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward is Brazil's all-time top scorer with 79 goals.
But, he has not featured for the five-time World Cup winners since 2023. Manager Carlo Ancelotti said in October that Neymar must retain his full fitness to earn a recall.
The 33-year-old has recently revealed a custom-built Batmobile replica. He shared the photos of the dramatic vehicle parked along with his Batcopter and black private jet, and wrote on the post: "Dreams can come true."
The Batmobile replica reportedly cost around 1.3 million pounds and was completed after nearly three years of work by a 50-member team. The stunning car is not legal to drive on the road, making it just a collector’s item.
Brazil are placed along with Scotland, Morocco and Haiti in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 48-team tournament is set to begin on June 11 in Canada, Mexico and the USA. The five-time world champions will begin their campaign against Morocco on June 13 in New York. Brazil will then face Haiti on June 19 in Philadelphia, and their final group match will be against Scotland on June 24 in Miami.
