New Delhi: Team India will take on Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 clash at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 14. The families of the victims killed in the Pahalgam terror attack are questioning the Indian government and the BCCI's decision to proceed with the match.

While any India vs Pakistan cricket clash guarantees record eyeballs, the sentiment this time is very different. Calls to boycott the match on Sunday reached at a peak, while BoycottINDvsPAK was the top trend on social media platforms.

26 innocent people died in the attack when several gunmen, believed to be terrorists, crossed the border from Pakistan, picked and chose to kill those gathered in Pahalgam. India retaliated with precision strikes in several terrorist spots in Pakistan, which was labelled as Operation Sindoor.

Cross-border tensions were escalated between India and Pakistan after that, as more civilians and army men were killed on both sides of the border.

'We were very disturbed': Pahalgam victim's family

Sawan Parmar, who lost his father and brother in the Pahalgam terror attack, said that when they got to know about the India vs Pakistan match, they were very disturbed.

“No sort of connection should remain with Pakistan… If you want to play the match, bring me back my 16-year-old brother who was shot with so many bullets… Operation Sindoor seems to be a waste now," Sawan told ANI.

Sawan’s mother, Kiran Yatish Parmar, questioned the government and said that this match should not happen.

"This match should not happen. I want to ask Prime Minister Modi, Operation Sindoor has not concluded so why is this India vs Pakistan match happening?… I want to tell everyone in the country to go and visit those families who have lost their loved ones in the Pahalgam terror attack and see how sad they are. Our wounds have not healed," she said.

After Sunday's clash, if India and Pakistan go through the group stage, then they’ll meet again in the Super-Fours, where a top-two finish can get them a third clash, in the final of the tournament.
