Nahid Rana

Nahid Rana is a talented Bangladeshi cricketer and a formidable fast bowler who represents the Rajshahi Division in domestic cricket. Known for his raw pace and aggressive bowling, he holds the record for the fastest delivery by a Bangladeshi bowler in international cricket, clocking an impressive 152 kph.

Hailing from the Chapai Nawabganj district, Nahid’s cricketing journey began in 2020. After completing his Higher Secondary School Certificate that same year, he enrolled in a cricket academy in Rajshahi to refine his skills. Initially serving as a net bowler for Rajshahi Division, his ability to consistently bowl at high speeds quickly caught the attention of scouts.

Nahid made his first-class debut for Rajshahi Division on October 31, 2021, in the National Cricket League. A year later, on the same date, he delivered a stunning performance, securing his maiden five-wicket haul against Barishal Division in the 2022–23 season. He finished the tournament as the second-highest wicket-taker, claiming 32 wickets.
His growing reputation earned him a spot in the Khulna Tigers squad for the 2022–23 Bangladesh Premier League. Making his Twenty20 debut on January 24, 2023, he impressed immediately, bowling consistently between 140-150 km/h and taking a wicket for just 20 runs in his four-over spell. His List A debut followed on March 21, 2023, for Shinepukur Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.

By September 2023, Nahid’s talent was recognized on a larger stage as he was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2023 Asian Games. His rise continued in March 2024, when he earned his maiden call-up to the national Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka. He made his Test debut on March 22, 2024, showcasing his skills at the highest level.
A defining moment in his career came during Bangladesh’s second Test against Pakistan, where he delivered a scorching 152.0 kph delivery, the fastest-ever by a Bangladeshi pacer in international cricket. In that series, 73 percent of his deliveries exceeded 140 kph, underlining his express pace. He played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s historic victory, claiming four wickets in the second innings.
