Born on 20th May 1992 in Richmond Hill in St. Vincent, Jomel Warrican is a left-arm spinner representing the West Indies. Warrican made the switch to Barbados and started his cricketing career by representing them at the junior level. Due to his consistent performances at that level, Warrican was awarded the Lord Gavron Award in 2009. Later that year, he made his List A debut for the West Indies U19 against the Leeward Islands. His impressive showing at the U19 level earned him a call-up to the West Indies U-19 squad for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. Warrican had a stellar 2014-15 Regional four-day competition for Barbados where he had 49 scalps to his name.

The West Indies selectors took notice of his performances and named him in the West Indies Test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. In his debut Test, he picked up six wickets but could not replicate his performance in the Tests that were played Down Under. That said, he has always been in the reckoning for the West Indies Test side in subcontinent conditions. Primarily seen as a red-ball bowler, Warrican is yet to feature for the West Indies in the two white-ball formats. Jomel Warrican is a crafty bowler with his left spin as he looks to bowl slow and extract turn from the wicket. He relies on guile and his variations to spin a web around the batters. Moreover, he is no mug with the bat and can contribute lower down the order when required.
