New Delhi: India defeated the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in three days of the first Test match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was the first Test at home since New Zealand whitewashed the Men in Blue  3-0  in 2024.

That result, followed by their 3-1 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which led to them missing out on the World Test Championship final for the first time. The Men in Blue have made a brilliant start to the current cycle, though their dominating victory against the West Indies has only strengthened their position.
