'Hopefully, Rohit and Virat will have a successful tour': Head coach Gautam Gambhir

There are increasing speculations about the ODI future of the senior pair, with Rohit set to be 40 and Kohli 38 by the time of the 2027 ODI World Cup. India head coach Gautam Gambhir also refused to commit that the two batting superstars are in his plans for the mega tournament.

"Look, 50-over World Cup is still two-and-a-half years away, and I think it is very important to stay in the present. That is very important. Obviously, they are quality players, they are coming back, their experience is going to be a handful in Australia as well. Hopefully, those two guys will have a successful tour, and more importantly, as a team, we will have a successful series," Gambhir told reporters on Tuesday.

The Men in Blue will take on Australia in the opening ODI at the Optus Stadium in Perth on October 19.
