New Delhi: India football legend Sunil Chhetri revealed that star batter Virat Kohli shared his fitness test results with him from London. According to recent media reports, Kohli gave his mandatory pre-season fitness test to the BCCI in London, which sparked massive criticism from some fans.
On the other hand, India Test captain Shubman Gill, ODI skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shardul Thakur travelled to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to give their fitness tests. The development wasn’t received well by many fans as they slammed the double standards of the Indian board.
Apart from the Yo-Yo test, a DXA Scan, which is a simplified method to test bone density, was also conducted during the fitness test by the BCCI at the Centre of Excellence. Earlier, the star batter revealed his Yo-Yo Test result publicly in 2023 by sharing it on his Instagram account.
After that, the BCCI verbally told cricketers not to share their fitness scores online as it could lead to a breach of contract clause. Meanwhile, Kohli will return to international cricket in the three-match ODI series against Australia, which is set to begin in Perth on October 19.
Kohli last played for India in the Champions Trophy 2025 and notched up a century in a successful run-chase against Pakistan during the league stage match in Dubai. He also scored a match-winning 84 runs against Australia in the semi-final. Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket in May 2025 and now will only play ODIs, having also retired from T20Is after the Men in Blue won the 2024 T20 World Cup.
On the Desi Premier League podcast, Chhetri revealed his admiration for Kohli’s disciplined fitness routine, and said that the star batter shared his fitness test scores with him from London.
"A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing in London. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kind of people. On your bad days when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable," Chhetri said.
