New Delhi: Bayern Munich scripted European history on Wednesday with their 14th successive win in all competitions. The Bundesliga giants beat FC Cologne 4-1 in the German Cup to extend their winning run and overtake Italian giants AC Milan's record of 13 wins in all competitions set at the start of its 1992-93 campaign.

Bayern's start to the season is one of the best-ever starts in football's history and the best in Europe. Bayern have won all the matches they have played in the Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League so far in the 2025-26 campaign.

The Bavarian side scripted history despite going behind for the first time since July. Ragnar Ache's 31st-minute header was the first and only bright spark for Cologne. It was all Bayern after the opener.

Bayern on a roll

Bayern turned up the heat on Cologne and were rewarded with two goals in two minutes, starting with Luis Diaz's contentious goal. With no VAR until the latter stages of the competition, Diaz, despite looking clearly offside, restored parity before Harry Kane put Bayern in front courtesy of an acrobatic turn and shot over the keeper in the 38th minute.

Kane gave Bayern a two-goal cushion with a header at a corner and took his tally to an astonishing 22 goals in 14 games this season. Díaz, scorer of the equaliser, turned provider and set up Michael Olise to score Bayern's fourth on a counter shortly afterwards.

Looking unstoppable at the moment, the next few games are likely to define Bayern's season. On the weekend, Bayern will face Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga before a visit to PSG in the Champions League. Their next challenge will be away at Union Berlin and a home game against Freiburg, and a blockbuster UCL clash against Arsenal. This run of five games is the toughest run Vincent Kompany's side has faced yet and will truly test the mettle of the side.
