She has served on the commission since 2017 and as BWF’s integrity ambassador since 2020, and has extensive experience and influence to perform in the role.

"I step into this role with a deep sense of responsibility and purpose. As Chair of the Athletes’ Commission, my focus is to ensure that athletes’ voices are heard clearly, consistently, and with respect at every level of decision making,” the 2019 World champion said.

"I see this role as a bridge between athletes and administration, and I am grateful to work alongside the Athletes’ Commission and the athletes who serve as representatives across our sport.

"To be entrusted with this responsibility by fellow athletes is an honour I carry with humility and gratitude. I would also like to sincerely acknowledge Greysia Polii for the exceptional work she has done in the previous term.”

Indonesia’s Polii, a Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist and Asian Games women's doubles champion, retired in 2022 and served on the commission twice, most recently from 2021 to 2025.

The Netherlands’ Debora Jille, a European Games women's doubles silver medallist, will serve as deputy to Sindhu in the commission.

Reigning Olympic women's singles champion An Se-young of South Korea, six-time African Games medallist Doha Hany of Egypt, and Paris 2024 women's doubles gold medallist China’s Jia Yifan are the other representatives in the commission.

In para-badminton, Hong Kong's Chan Ho Yuen Daniel was promoted to take up the job of chairperson on a full-time basis having served as the interim head.
