New Delhi: India U-19 Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a sensational batting performance, amassing 86 runs off just 31 balls, including nine maximums and four boundaries. He led his team four-wicket win against England U-19 in the third youth ODI on Wednesday, July 2.
The 14-year-old batter smashed a 20-ball half-century and helped the team chase down England's target of 269 runs in 34.3 overs. The match was reduced to 40 overs due to the rain. Captain Thomas Rew scored an unbeaten 76 runs off 44 deliveries, but the match was dominated by Suryavanshi.
His 20-ball fifty is only bettered by Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant among Indian batters in youth ODIs. Pant smashed an 18-ball half-century against Nepal U19 back in 2016.

Suryavanshi’s nine maximums also break the Indian record in all youth ODIs, overtaking Raj Angad Bawa and Mandeep Singh’s previous joint record of eight sixes each. The Rajasthan Royals batter amassed 78 of his runs in boundaries, amounting to 90.69 per cent of his total score.
Only Pant, Sarfaraz Khan and Manan Vohra are the other three Indians who have recorded a higher percentage of runs in boundaries in a Youth ODI match for India. He is currently the highest run-scorer in the five-match series, amassing 179 runs in three matches at a stunning strike rate of 213.09 strike rate.
