The Kalaburagi bench of the Karnataka High Court has intervened to prevent the closure of Jan Aushadhi Kendras within state-run hospitals. Justice M I Arun granted an interim stay order in response to 18 petitions filed by Kendra owners challenging the state governments decision.

The government's policy aimed to restrict doctors from referring patients to external medical facilities. However, petitioners argued this was inconsistent, citing the continued operation of similar facilities like Janatha Bazaar and Jan Sanjeevani stores.

The High Courts stay provides temporary relief to the Jan Aushadhi Kendra owners and ensures the continued operation of these essential healthcare providers.
