Asim Munir marries off daughter to brothers son at Pakistan army headquarters, several dignitaries attend

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir married off his daughter to his brother’s son at a simple ceremony in Rawalpindi Army Headquarters recently. The wedding was attended by senior political leaders and military officials. It was a low-key ceremony, and no official photographs were taken.

Who all attended?

Pakistani journalist Zahid Gishkori had shared a video on social media but later deleted it. However, he confirmed the wedding. "Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir's daughter, Mahnoor, married his brother's son, Capt. Abdul Rehman Qasim," he was quoted to have said.

General Munir’s nephew, Abdul Rehman, the groom, had earlier served the Pakistani Army as a captain. After leaving the army, he joined the civil services under the army quota. He is currently serving as the assistant commissioner. General Munir has four daughters. Her third daughter’s marriage was held on December 26.

UAE President in Pakistan

The wedding coincided with the visit of the United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Pakistan. There were speculations that he would attend the wedding. However, there were several media reports claiming that he did not attend the wedding.
