Social media is abuzz after a viral kiss cam moment at a Coldplay concert exposed an alleged affair between Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company’s Chief People Officer (CPO), Kristin Cabot. But it’s not just the drama that has caught the internet’s attention — it’s The Simpsons.

A strange theory has surfaced online: did The Simpsons predict the Coldplay kiss cam scandal years ago? Posts on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook are circulating an image that appears to show two Simpsons characters in a pose strikingly similar to that of Byron and Cabot. The image bears a strong resemblance to the duo as they appeared on the kiss cam.

The photo sparked renewed fascination with The Simpsons' history of eerily accurate predictions. Some fans pointed to a Season 28 episode titled Kiss Kiss, which aired in 2017, where Homer and Marge appear on a kiss cam at a baseball game. Homer is initially awkward but ends up kissing Marge.

However, fact-checkers and observant fans quickly clarified that the Simpsons image making the rounds is likely AI-generated. There is no official scene from the episode that matches the viral image. Still, the theory continues to gain traction because of The Simpsons’ long-standing reputation for predicting real-life events.

The scandal began at Coldplay’s concert on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium, where the kiss cam landed on Byron and Cabot. They were seen cuddling and immediately tried to hide their faces. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin even joked from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”

The Simpsons image has gone viral. Social media users turned it into a meme storm, with jokes, screenshots and speculation flying across platforms. One user posted: “Is there anything The Simpsons don’t know!! Tech CEO Andy Byron's SECRET relationship with HR head Kristin Cabot EXPOSED after Coldplay concert & the internet did its thing .”

Another wrote, “The Simpsons predicting the future YET AGAIN of the CEO at Coldplay situation.”

XAstronomer has since placed CEO Andy Byron on leave. The company issued an official statement on Thursday, saying, “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”

The company’s cofounder and Chief Product Officer, Pete DeJoy, has stepped in as interim CEO.
