Delivery driver dodges lightning bolt, doorbell cam captures terrifying moment in viral video

A delivery driver in New Jersey had an incredibly close brush with death after a lightning bolt struck just inches away from him during a routine food delivery. The terrifying moment was captured on a doorbell camera and has since gone viral on social media.

The incident occurred in Wayne, New Jersey, on Monday. In the now-viral video, the delivery man, identified as Jovanni Behun, is seen walking up to the front door of a house with a brown paper bag in his hand. He rings the doorbell and stands waiting on the porch.

Moments later, a massive lightning bolt strikes right next to him with a loud bang. Behun is visibly shocked. He crouches down, shouting, clearly rattled by how close the bolt was. The thunder follows instantly.

The homeowner, Lisa Lowe, whose camera captured the footage, told Storyful, “We ordered food, and when the delivery driver came to the door, lightning struck.”

When the door finally opens, Behun hands over the food and tells the resident, “I thought that was going to hit me.” The video shows him rushing back to his car, clearly shaken but thankfully unharmed.

Speaking to ABC 7 New York, Behun said the noise caught him off guard. “I did shout. It was a loud noise. At first, I didn’t really know what the noise was,” he said. “I kind of just moved and just hoped for the best. And I ended up being the lucky person who is able to see another day.”

The clip has taken social media by storm. Users expressed their shock and relief at the narrow escape. “Nah you gotta let the kid keep the food and give him a huge tip after that one,” wrote one user. Another joked, “Hope he bought a lottery ticket after this miracle.”

Others shared similar lightning experiences. “I had that happen last week. If you hear a zapping sound, absolutely do not move,” one user warned. Another noted, “It looks like it struck the flagpole. I’m surprised it didn’t damage it.”
