A massive blaze engulfed Gul Plaza shopping mall on Karachi's MA Jinnah Road on Jan 17. As per officials, six people were killed in the massive blaze, and over 60 went missing. The firefighting operations continued for over 12 hours as teams tried to contain the massive blaze.
The fire broke out at 10:45 pm, when the mall was almost empty, as several owners had left for the night. Authorities said that over 20 people were rescued from the blazing fire at the mall & were shifted to a hospital.
Firefighting operations were reportedly hampered due to the structure of the mall. Currently, firefighters are trying to contain the blaze and are waiting for the debris to cool down to restart rescue operations.
