Washington: With the trade deal between India and the US is still to be completed, a purportedly leaked audio of prominent US Senator Ted Cruz have pointed out that he has blamed White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, Vice President JD Vance and President Donald Trump for holding the deal with India.

What the senator claimed?

As per a report by Axios, in the leaked audio record, the senator can be heard telling his supporters that he was fighting the White House for the completion of the deal between both countries at the earliest.

Notably, the report has come at a time when the trade deal between the US and India has been under discussion for several months. The talks got momentum since US President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25 percent tariff, accusing New Delhi of buying crude oil from Russia.

Audio says about challenges

The report suggests challenges in the completion of trade deal despite several rounds of negotiations between two countries. It was suggested that divisions within the Republican party even after supporting President Trump on Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

According to the report, Ted Cruz said that he and several other Republican Senators tried to urge Trump against implementation of tariffs on several countries. He had reportedly also warned the President on its impact on the US. Cruz observed that the step would led to higher prices and damage retirement savings accounts for Americans.

Cruz may consider running for next Presidential polls

It is believed that Cruz is considering running for the President’s post in 2028, with an aim to challenge President Trump and Vice President Vance’s control in the Republican Party. Several Republicans are also concerned losing ground to the Democrats in the 2026 midterm polls.
