New Delhi: Elon Musk's alleged plans to start a new political party in the US have drawn criticism from US President Donald Trump. Trump called the notion "ridiculous" and confusing in remarks he delivered to reporters before boarding Air Force One in Morristown, New Jersey.

He stated that third parties have historically failed and that the US political system works best as a two-party system.

Although Trump acknowledged Musk's right to follow his goals, he insisted that the proposed party would not be successful. In the run-up to the 2026 midterm elections, the statement fuels more conjecture about Musk's possible political ambitions.

"He can have fun with it, but I think it's ridiculous," Ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, the remark feeds into the mounting conjecture regarding Musk's political aspirations.
