US President Donald Trump recently shared an image showing himself as the 'acting President of Venezuela'. Trump shared the image amid rising global tensions following the US raid in Venezuela on Jan 3. During the raid, US captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife and charged them with drug trafficking.
The current Venezuelan govt, backed by the US, has slammed Trump, claiming that the drill was all about oil. Trump took to the social media platform TRUTH and posted the picture of what seemed to be an edited Wikipedia page. The edited page showed Trump as the incumbent President of Venezuela as of Jan 2026.
US raided Venezuela on Jan 3 and captured President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Following the capture of Maduro, Trump said that US will run Venezuela until a proper and safer govt is ensured. Despite Trump's claims, Venezuelan Supreme Court appointed Delcy Rodriguez as the interim president.
After becoming the interim president, Delcy slammed Trump for masking his true intentions. Delcy said that US falsely accused Mauro of drug trafficking, democracy, and human rights. Delcy said that the real objective of the US has always been control over the country’s vast energy resources.
