New Delhi: Edtech firm Physics Wallah's co-founder Alakh Pandey has been making the headlines for his meteoric rise and the massive increase in his net worth. Following the dream market debut of Physics Wallah shares on November 18, 2025, Tuesday, the YouTuber who left his Rs 40 crore job to start the edtech firm, is again in the limelight.
The shares of edtech unicorn PhysicsWallah listed with a jump of 31.28 per cent at Rs 143.10 apiece on the BSE. The counter ended with 44 percent gains at Rs 156.49. At the NSE, the stock got listed at Rs 145, a premium of 33 per cent from the issue price.
Pandey featured in the Hurun India Rich List 2025. According to the coveted list, the edtech co-founder’s net worth increased by 223% in the last one year. Notably, Hurun list was released in the first week of October 2025. At present, there is no official figure regarding Pandey’s net worth, but it has surely surged due to the bumper listing of the Physics Wallah stock.

Alakh Pandey had a net worth of Rs 14,510 crore, at Hurun List mentioned. His wealth is more than Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan (Rs 12,490 crore). The edtech co-founder has now joined the Indians whose wealth has increased the fastest. Especially with businessmen in the sector like industrial products and jewellery.
Even though Physicist incurred losses in the last few financial years, Alakh Pandey's net worth has increased rapidly. The company reported a net loss (loss) of Rs 243 crore in the financial year 2024-25 (FY25), compared to Rs 1,131 crore in the previous financial year. That is, the company reduced its losses by 78%. The company's total income increased to Rs 2,886 crore, from Rs 1,940 crore last year. Despite this, the wealth of Alakh Pandey and his partner jumped by 223%, which shows that the demand for the edtech sector continues to grow, even if there are challenges.
Who is Alakh Pandey?
Alakh Pandey was born in 1991 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. He got himself enrolled in B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering course from Harcourt Butler Technical University in Kanpur, but quit in the third year. In 2016, he started a YouTube channel called Physics Wallah. Soon he became very popular among students preparing for IIT. After that, he started the company in the name of his YouTube channel, which today is one of the most successful edtech companies in the country.
