New Delhi: In the wake of a devastating electoral performance in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress party has initiated stern disciplinary action against its own ranks. The Congress's disciplinary committee has issued showcause notices to 43 leaders for their alleged involvement in anti-party activities that are believed to have severely hampered the party's image and electoral prospects.
Out of 243 seats as part of the Grand Alliance, the party secured just six seats from 61 allotted seats in the Bihar polls. These leaders, who include former ministers, state general secretaries, and district presidents, are accused of deviating from the party's official stance and making statements in the media and public forums that were detrimental to the Congress's campaign. The party has made it unequivocally clear that discipline and unity are paramount, and any perceived damage to these core tenets will be met with serious repercussions.
The deadline for submitting written explanations to the Pradesh Congress Disciplinary Committee is November 21, 2025, by 12 noon. Kapil Dev Prasad Yadav, the chairman of the committee, warned that failure to respond within the stipulated time will result in stringent action, including potential expulsion from the primary membership of the party for a period of six years.
